2019 TEL3 Fiesta Preparations
This is the day before preparations for the Annual Eastwood Lafayette III Fiesta celebration for the Feast of Pope John Paul II.
Trivia: It is traditional to celebrate saints' feast days on the anniversary of their deaths, but that of John Paul II (22 October) is celebrated on the anniversary of his papal inauguration.
We do a lot of DIY crafts in the function room. For the Fiesta 2019 we did table lamps with battery powered fairy lights.
The body of the lamps were made of Raffa bottles. I kinda liked drinking Raffa Sparkling (from the Emperador family) before hence lots of bottles...
The glass bottles have to be drilled with holes near the base so as to insert the fairy lights into it while the battery pack is ijstalled at the wooden base. The drilling process is not shown here but basically this is how we did it. The clay in the video is used to contain water so that the glass splinters from the drilling process will not fly away. Instead of the clay we used glue gun.
I was looking for options on the shade part and initially thought of Lucky Me noodles plastic cup. Then I saw one batch of old chandelier recently dumped at the back room... Perfect ! Whoever you are who threw them out... A big Thank You !!!
My basic idea was to just push the fairy lights inside the bottle but Kuya Mel thought it was better to curl them up first around a pen and hence created a body not just messy spaghetti. Nicely done Kuya Mel!
Ms. Chit Fernandez... excited na...
